I bought a perma-boot through the company's online store, received the boot and geoseal as advertised. Directions were extremely basic and the first problem I ran into was my vent pipe extends about 22" above my roof. I thought about cutting it to fit the cap over the boot (like another reviewer did), but then I did some research and found that building codes for my state require at least 18" to accomodate snow accumulation. I decided to use the bottom portion of the perma-boot without the cap, using the geoseal to seal around the pipe and top portion of the boot, as well as the bottom portion of the boot where it sits on the old roof cap. I contacted the company to see what they recommended. They responded quickly to let me know that they don't currently have a solution or recomendation, and that they are currently working on some type of extended cap, but it is not finished yet. Would have been nice if they had this information on their website! It is like, yeah we know our product doesn't cover all scenarios, but we'll let you buy it and then wait for you to notice. A little annoying, but I'll leave it like it is and keep an eye on it. I am worried that snowfall and ice may rip this thing loose though, we'll see.
